Crysis 2 Beta

The Crysis 2 Beta hit Xbox Live exclusively on January 25th. The Beta is 1.80Gb and multiplayer only it runs off the CryEngine 3 at the moment it has two playable gamemodes Team Instant Action a Team Deathmatch mode and Crash Site and objective based mode. The multiplayer has one playable map called SkyLine and the player has 3 killstreaks, for 3 kills the player gets Maximum Radar, 5 an Orbital airstrike and for 7 a Ceph Gunship the killstreaks can only be earned however if the player collects the enemies dog tag from their body.. The game has 10 available ranks and 1 weapon from each class usable and unlocked as you progress. Gameplay wise it is a cross between Halo physics and Call of Duty play with fast deaths and overall pace. It also shares a similar armor ability system to the Halo Reach, each ability including sprinting a jumping uses up energy which is displayed with a bar out of 100. At present their are only two abilities Cloak for invisibilty using the right bumper and power armour using the left bumper for increased resistance to damage. At present the only major issues with the games are the frames dropping when certain actions are done such as meleeing and the game freezing on load up or more rarely during the game. This will certainly be one to watch for the future to see what Crytek add. The game comes out in the UK on March 25th for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC with normal and limited editions.

First Strike map pack Summery

On the first of February the first map pack for Call of duty Black Ops will be released for Xbox 360’s while PC’s and Playstations will have to wait.

There are four online maps and one zombie map in this map pack. The first one is Discovery, which is set in an abandoned German research station. There is a chasm set between the two sides connected by ice bridges, which can be destroyed. The second map is Kowloon this map is inspired by the campaign mission set in Kowloon city in China. This map is set on the rooftops and the highlights in this map are the zip lines which can transport a player quickly from one side of the map to the other but leaving them very venerable. The third is Stadium, which is a very hectic close quarters map set around a hockey rink in the northeast United States. The last online map is Berlin wall which is quite obviously set at the Berlin wall where the two sides fight for control of the others teams side of the wall. This sounds quite simple except the most direct route to the opposing players side of the map (though the wall) is guarded by auto sentries, which will shoot anything that moves. The last thing to be included in the piece of downloadable content is another zombie map named Ascension not that much is known about this except that a new enemy will appear zombified monkeys and that the Lunar Lander can be used. Also the Bowie Knife has been replace by a Sickle.

This map pack is named First Strike and will be out on the first of February for Xbox owners the other platforms a release date is unknown. For the Xbox this will cost the Price of 1200 Microsoft points.

Review Shift Andriod App

The subjects of last week's blog Handmarks Shift App for Android has hit the Market yesterday already and has already ammassed over 1000 downloads. The app has a paid version with 40 extra levels costing £1.25 or 2$ or a Shift lite version for free with 15 levels. The game itself is very good offering a very fluid movement with touch buttons on either side of the puzzle and its time trial base will spur you on to find faster ways to complete each level. The puzzles main challenges lie in the the logic required to solve them but some ones require precision touch skills or a speedy run. The Shift series as always has quirky humour following the player about through each level and while it doesn't enhance the gameplay its messages may bring a smile to your face. The only downside we could find with the game was its lack of Apps2SD compatibility at 3.30MB it is a mid-sized game but it would be helpful for those that like to cram their phone full of Apps. After a few tries I finally hit a decent time of 05'08"25 can you beat that? Overall a great game that's not overly challenging and is great for short journeys.

Ozone Attack Gaming Headset

The Ozone Attack are a set of good quality headphones, For the prices it is available to buy there's nothing wrong with it. Its a very rugged feel and because I have tried a pair personally, they offer decent sound and recording quality. The bass quality could be improved slightly but changing the equaliser on your device solves this.

The padding on the Speakers themselves and the head-guard are tough enough for extended use and comfortable enough to wear for long periods of time.

The 3.5mm headphone Jack makes it easy to use because of its compatibility with most portable music players. The headset uses braided cables to add quality and durability but is easily twisted and tangled, It comes with an in-line controller with volume control and a microphone mute function for ease of use.
Basic Stats
- Cord Length: 2.5m
- Plug: 3.5mm jack x2 (headphones + mic)
- Net Weight: 258g

Overview
Good set of headphones, I would recommend buying these headphones for Gaming or General music use.

Blackberry Curve 9300

The Blackberry Curve 9300 has the usual Blackberry sleekness and business-like looks but also includes features to make it a fun phone for personal use.

Apps like Blackberry Messenger, Windows Live Messenger and the ability to download Facebook and Twitter from the Blackberry App Store make this phone the most sociable Blackberry ever. Although Blackberry Apps tend to be more expensive than other competing platforms, there are enough solid choices and free apps to keep people entertained. The dedicated music keys on the top of the phone signal Blackberry's attempt to win over the less business-orientated audience.

With 3G and the ability to hook up to wireless networks you can access the Internet anywhere at anytime. Couple this with the fantastic Qwerty keyboard and this phone is brilliant for people who love emailing and texting.

The trackpad which has been used on the Curve can take some getting used to but when you do you may find yourself enjoying browsing through the menus.

It is best to pick up the Blackberry Curve 9300 on a contract as many of the features don't work otherwise. You can get the phone for free on a £20 - £25 a month, 24 month contract from any good phone retailer. Here it is on bestbuy.com

Overall this phone is a nice upgrade to the Curve 8250 and cheap enough to consider it over the Bold. If you do buy this phone you know it won't let you down.

Nintendo 3DS
Late last year Nintendo released information about the next generation of handheld consoles: The Nintendo 3DS.

What Is The 3DS ?
The Nintendo 3DS  is an upcoming portable game console by Nintendo, which can produce 3D graphics without having to wear the 3D glasses.

When Can I Get It ?
It will hit the shelves in Japan on February 26. Europe though will have to wait until March.

How Much Will It Cost ?
UK – £189.99 (estimated price)
Europe – €219.99 (estimated price)
North America – $289.99 (estimated price)

General Information
Not only can you play games on the 3DS, you can also use it to create your own 3D photos. Take pictures with the 3DS and it will be the start of your first 3D photo collection to share with friends and post online.
Using the 3D camera, you can make the world around you part of the game. For example, look at a table through the screen of your 3DS and you might see little monsters running around it. This is another technology which is still being experimented with but has many truly exciting possibilities.
The 3DS is a portable media centre. It is the only way you can watch 3D films without glasses. You can also store and listen to a digital music collection on the system.
You can now do multiple things at once. For example, you can pause a game, take a look at a website and get straight back to the game without interruption.
Finally, 3DS can keep track of how much walking you have done to aid you with your fitness. As if this wasn’t enough, you’ll also be able to download apps to do just about anything with your new handheld companion.

So will you be in the queue for the Nintendo 3DS? Let us know what you think by commenting below.
